Today we would like to recognize the hard work of our many math teachers at LSD! Did you know that LSD's MAP Math scores increased by nearly 20% from the 22-23 school year to the 23-24 school year? Our staff and students worked very hard last year, and we are proud to showcase their incredible growing power! 📚🤓

September 19, 2024 The Louisiana Special School District is pleased to announce the implementation of the Safe Schools Anonymous Reporting App. The Governor's Office and Louisiana State Police have partnered with Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans to offer the Safe Schools Louisiana App to all middle and high schools throughout the state. The Safe Schools Louisiana Anonymous Reporting App, is a free resource for our school community, providing students the ability to communicate, anonymously, about a pressing school, criminal, or mental health concern or issue. Tips are monitored and received via the Safe Schools Louisiana App or via the website, www.safeschoolsla.com, and once vetted, the proper representatives are notified for engagement. When there is an emergency, our Safe School team will be contacted for immediate response and intervention. The web based platform called P3 Campus is used in over 20,000 schools and by over 10 million students across the United States. How It Works: • Submit an anonymous tip 24/7 through the website or the Safe Schools Louisiana Mobile App (links above) • Receive a Report ID and Password if you would like to follow-up on your report • The Crimestoppers Call center reviews, assesses and processes all submissions • The Crimestoppers Call center sends all submissions to law enforcement and/or school administration for intervention • If needed, the Crimestoppers Call center may contact you anonymously through the app or by case number follow-up • The Crimestoppers Call center posts status of submission with case number as case progresses and closes • If this is an emergency, please immediately call 911!

This week staff began returning to our Baton Rouge campus. On the first day back, Dr. Martin addressed the staff in the auditorium. He presented the leaders across our schools and programs with the "Superintendent's Leadership Award" which recognizes team members who take on additional roles beyond their normal duties and those who go above and beyond. The recipients were recognized by senior leadership as having demonstrated the qualities needed in a strong leader. Congratulations to the recipients of the 2024 Superintendent's Leadership award.

To end Staff Appreciation Week on May 10th, our Family/School Organization hosted an incredible meal for our team, and gave away some fun raffle items for our winners to enjoy. Words cannot express how truly grateful we are to be part of the War Eagle team, and to be able to have the support of these families who care for our staff as much as we do! 🦅💚

On April 26th we had our first Farm to Table celebratory lunch with our high school Agriscience and ProStart culinary arts students! Our students got to enjoy fried chicken, fried, and a salad with greens, tomatoes, cheese, eggs, and more. 🥗 🍗

Our elementary and middle school students are now all busy with LEAP testing, and it’s high school’s turn next week. In the meantime, take a look at some of the things we were learning this week and last week before we got started testing. Here you’ll see: our kids testing the water of our aquaponics equipment, learning about perimeter and area on a coordinate plane, prepping for the eclipse, solving equations using trig functions, working quadratic equations, learning about Egypt, and more!

How did your solar eclipse viewing go? We couldn’t see much with the cloudy Louisiana sky, but we had lots of fun in our small groups learning about eclipses and eating eclipse-themed snacks! Our students who had permission got eclipse glasses and got to go outside to view it. Since we didn’t have much luck seeing this phenomenon, we decided to go inside and check it out virtually! 😎 💻
