What a thrilling homecoming volleyball game we witnessed on October 26th! 🎉🏐 The Louisiana School for the Deaf took on the Mississippi School for the Deaf, and the energy in the gym was electric! 💪❤️ The teamwork and spirit displayed by all the players were truly inspiring. Our ASL team is currently attending the ASL Round Table conference in Rochester, NY. They are learning all they can to bring back to our own instructional practices at LSD. As a bonus, they got to see some LSD alumni - it's always great to see these War Eagles doing great things in new places!
Each year the students from LSD and LSVI trick or treat around our campus getting treats from our staff. The departments really get into the spirit and this year the team from District Wide Supports (DWS) chose a PAC man theme.
🌟 Today was epic! Our 5th graders used our new virtual reality goggles to explore the Statue of Liberty and witness chemical reactions! 🗽✨ Students were able to see how the weather conditions created rust on cars, playground equipment, and statues. Learning never looked so fun! 📚💡 What should we explore next? 🤔💭

Our lower elementary students had a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch yesterday and learned about the science of pumpkins!

The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at between second and third set of the volleyball match against Mississippi School for the Deaf on October 26 after 3:30 PM at the Brightside campus. Join us to see who will take the title of King and Queen!
Juniors and Seniors at LSD are taking the ACT test on October 28th and 29th - please be sure to rest up, eat a good breakfast, and get to school on time for your test, War Eagles!

Here's some of the action from this week: our juniors and seniors got to meet with admissions from Rochester Institute of Technology, Honor Roll students got to enjoy a Chick Fil A breakfast, students visiting Avery Island and the Tabasco factory with our culinary arts program, two students signed the pledge for the board meeting, and you can see some learning about molecules!
We are highlighting our students of the month from the start of the year - give these SOARing War Eagles a round of applause for exemplifying true War Eagle spirit and model behavior!
