Hooked on bilingual beginnings! 🤟✨ Meleah & Rachael just got back from the National ASL & English Bilingual Consortium for Early Childhood Education and came home buzzing with inspiration. At the flagship annual summit they connected with hundreds of educators, researchers, and advocates committed to ASL–English bilingual early learning. They’re full of new ideas and ready to bring back strategies and resources for our classrooms and families. 👶📚✨

Want a sneak peek into high school Ag Science? 🌱🐐 Mrs. Hannah’s 2nd block gave our middle schoolers a fun presentation and tour in early April about Ag classes and FFA—complete with favorite memories (yes, chasing loose chickens!) - then hands-on time with goats, chickens, rabbits, and our aquaponics setup. Many left inspired to take Ag Science in high school! ✨💚

Our staff felt the love during our staff appreciation week—and it showed in every single detail, thanks to our supporters! 💚
A huge thank you to our Family School Organization (FSO) and our families who worked behind the scenes to make this happen. From planning, organizing, decorating, coordinating donations -this week doesn’t come together without you.
We’re also incredibly grateful to our community partners and donors who showed up for our staff in a big way:
✨ Ruby Slipper
✨ CC’s Coffee House
✨ Kona Ice of Baton Rouge (thank you, Wally!)
✨ Off the Hook
✨ Red Stick Bread & Board
✨ Joe’s Bakery
✨ Chick-fil-A
✨ Subway
✨Wendy Brinkmann
✨ GSAS Construction
…and so many others who donated food, time, prizes, and support throughout the week.
From breakfast spreads and sweets, to spa day, taco bars and pizza, to Kona Ice, and our final celebration—this week was full of moments where our staff could just enjoy being appreciated.
To our families and community: thank you for showing up for our staff the same way they show up for our students every single day! We are grateful for our War Eagles' hard work and dedication to our students, and we are thankful our families and community members value that as much as we do! 💚🦅

Tiny chefs in action! 🧑🍳👨🍳 In March, our Pre-K class visited Amy’s cooking classroom for a full hands-on lesson — chef clothes on, kitchen safety checked, mixing, baking peach cobbler, and even a kitchen dance party. Swipe to see the smiles and the finished cobbler ➡️ What should our little chefs make next? 🥧💚🤍🦅

Have you heard? April is Deaf History Month in Louisiana — officially proclaimed by Gov. Jeff Landry. 🗓️✨ We celebrate the history, culture, language, and incredible contributions of Deaf individuals across our state and the nation.
Huge thanks to Liam Doyle and the Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs (GODA) for collaborating to make this proclamation possible and for their ongoing support of the Deaf community. Hands up for access, inclusion, and community! 🤟💚

Ever wondered how a passion becomes a business? 🌟 Students enjoyed a Lunch + Learn in March with Shemika Wilson, owner of C by Mimi (IG: @cby.mimi). She shared the origins of her braiding skills and the educational path that led to ownership. The big takeaway: don’t give up—keep building your skills and they’ll open doors in any industry. 👩🏽🎓💼

Last week Charles Perkins of Green Slash spoke with our high school students about starting his lawn-care business, expanding his client base, and building profitability. He also addressed a big concern for entrepreneurs: how to get health insurance. Honest stories + practical tips = inspiration for future business owners. 🌱📈
