The image is a promotional poster for the Louisiana School for the Deaf's Homecoming. The background is a deep green with white and black text and features multiple sections with different event details. At the top, there's a graphic of a bald eagle. A yellow badge with "December 13th" is on the upper left, and on the right, another badge says "11-2:30". Below the eagle, the main text in bold white reads, "Join us for Louisiana School for the Deaf's Homecoming!" The poster is segmented into various sections. The first section, with a hamburger icon, invites people to enjoy food like hamburgers, cake pops, funnel cake, and fried Oreos. The next section features a coffee cup illustration and promotes a coffee bar and lemonade stand. Further down, a raffle ticket graphic accompanies details about events like candy cane grams, raffles, carnival games, and balloon darts. The final section, with a camera icon, encourages attendees to use a photo booth. The overall layout uses circular and star-shaped graphics for additional decoration.
Last Friday, our high school civics classes had an unforgettable learning experience at the Louisiana State Capitol, made possible by the generosity of Senator Caleb Kleinpeter. Our students were welcomed for a personal tour that included the Senate Chamber, Senator Kleinpeter's office, the top floor observation deck, and other special spaces. Senator Kleinpeter, thank you for opening doors for our War Eagles! Your willingness to spend time with our students, listen to their ideas and perspectives, and consistently continue to learn about the Deaf community and Deaf education means more to us than words can express. Experiences with our community deepens understanding, builds confidence, and shows our students that their voices and experiences matter. We look forward to meeting more members of our community and spreading awareness around the state! 🦅 💚

Antonietta flew in all the way from Rochester, New York to talk about NTID / RIT yesterday! She presented to high schoolers, met individually with seniors who are in the process of applying, and then wrapped up her visit with a presentation to the middle school students. Antonietta talked about RIT's nine different colleges, including the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), and she shared stories of current and past Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who have thrived at NTID / RIT. Thank you, Antonietta, for bringing the energy and Tiger pride!

We had an amazing visit from Sharon Castillo of Gallaudet University yesterday! 🌟 She engaged our middle and high school students, answering their questions about college life—sports, internships, cafeteria food, and dorm life. 🏫✨ Many of our staff at the Louisiana School for the Deaf are proud Gallaudet alumni!
