The Special School District is excited to welcome families to campus this summer! The Louisiana School for the Deaf (LSD) and Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired (LSVI) are opening their doors for Wednesday tours from June 17 through July 29.

Come see firsthand what makes our programs unique and how we support every student’s success. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to:

Due to a state office closure, LSD and LSVI will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. There will be no virtual learning on Monday, January 26, 2026. Any additional updates will be sent and posted on the district website and social media pages. See the updated schedule for next week below.

• Monday, 1/26- LSD and LSVI are closed; no virtual learning.

• Tuesday, 1/27- DAY students will be back on campus for a regular school day. SOUTHEAST, LAFAYETTE, and TERREBONNE dorm students will travel back to campus. NORTH and LAKE CHARLES dorm students will participate in virtual learning.

• Wednesday- Friday, 1/28-1/30- DAY, SOUTHEAST, LAFAYETTE, and TERREBONNE students will have a regular school day. NORTH and LAKE CHARLES dorm students will participate in virtual learning.

Stay safe and stay warm!

Due to impending weather, No LSD or LSVI students will return to the SSD campus on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Students who ride the NORTH or LAKE CHARLES bus will not have bus service until Sunday, February 1. These students will participate in virtual learning for the entire week.
