Congratulations Susan Covington - New Director of Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired
Dr. David Martin, Superintendent of the Louisiana Special School District, is excited to announce the selection of Susan Covington as the new Executive Director of Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired. Ms. Covington will assume the role on July 31, 2023. Please help us in congratulating Ms. Covington as they start their new adventure leading LSVI forward and creating excellent opportunities for its students.

Reminder LSVI Candidate Public Forum
ANNOUNCEMENT:
Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired Candidate Forum
Dr. David Martin, Superintendent of the Louisiana Special School District, is excited to announce the two finalists for the Executive Director position at the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired. Mrs. Susan Covington and Mrs. Melanie Hall have been selected to advance. Finalists interviews will be held on July 18th followed by a public forum where the two candidates will present to the public their vision for LSVI. The forum will be held at the Louisiana Special School District in Room 196 (Board Room) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A feedback form will be provided for public input. Questions presented to the candidates during the forum will be selected from those submitted in advance by the public. Questions may be submitted by email to [email protected]. More information about each of the finalists can be found at the below. I look forward to hearing from both finalists on July 18.

Stakeholder Feedback Survey Released
We have a developed stakeholder survey to get insight on what the community wants in the next leader of LSVI.
Thank you for your interest in completing this survey. This survey may take up to 20 minutes to complete. We encourage you to take the survey in one sitting. If you do not complete the survey in full, you will have to take it again from the beginning. Innivee Strategies is leading this survey.

Core Purpose
The Executive Director’s core purpose is to provide professional, highly-effective leadership and management that will achieve outstanding results for students at LSVI. The executive director promotes an inspiring vision and clear direction that is shared by all members of the school, preK-12. Ultimately, the executive director is responsible for ensuring that the curriculum, teaching and assessment practices inspire high levels of engagement, achievement and progress for all students at LSVI.
